Bhikkhus, it is a natural law that when the Bodhisatta emerges from his mother's womb, a vast and immeasurable light appears in the world-surpassing even the splendor of the devas-throughout the world with its devas, Māras, Brahmās, ascetics, and brahmins, among gods and humans. Even in the dark, inter-world spaces where the sun and moon do not shine, that great light appears. Beings there perceive one another by that light, thinking: ‘Indeed, there are other beings here.’ And this ten-thousandfold world system trembles, shakes, and quakes, and a great, immeasurable radiance appears in the world, surpassing the divine splendor of the devas. This is the natural law in this case.”
